Browser Caching

Stores web page resources on your local computer when a user visits that web page and when you leverage browser caching it instructs browsers on how to deal with the storage of those resources. Browser cache score is ranked from 0-1, one being the best possible caching setup.

Why Leveraging Browser Cache Matters?

  • The page will load faster for users after the initial visit and so will other pages that utilize those same resources.
  • Reduces the load on your web server
  • Decreases bounce rate as a user doesn't have to wait for long loading periods

How To Fix Your Browser Cache Issues

  • Utilize Cache-Control on your server to specify how and for how long to keep resources stored without fetching the resources again.
  • Add E-tags to managed expired cache directives to check if the resource has changed and update if necessary.
