11 Must Have Books For The Webpreneur

person holding a red magazine guided towards inspiring entrepreneurs

You Have Website & Nothing But Crickets!

I had 10 years in tech before starting my 1st online business. But I had a BIG problem.

The idea and website looked great, but NO sales. $0.

So I did SEO, and after 2 months I had traffic and a few sales but a couple hundred bucks a month is not going to give anyone financial freedom.

... Eventually I spoke with someone I had worked for before managing their SEO who makes $3 million in profit a year selling products he didn't even have.

He made it clear to me that having a skill and a product without a plan for the different parts of a business, I would only continue to be a failure. YES, he called me a failure.

He gave me 2 books to read and told me I'll understand my weaknesses after reading these: "Only the Paranoid Survive" and "Tribal Leadership"

Damn it, he was right...

In order to succeed online you must aim for growth in different areas and the fastest way to do so is by learning from those entrepreneurs who have done it before. There is no need to struggle blindly, use these 11 books that will guide you to success as I have used & continue to use in my journey to grow online businesses. That is, if you don't want to continue being a failure!

1. Hooked

Helps you to build habit-forming products based on triggers supported by psychology and unless you want to keep paying for website visitors you will want to read this one to grasp what you can do to get users to visit your website or app over and over again. It's such a useful book that I keep it on my desk.

2. High Performance Habits

Helps get you organized and keep you in a routine towards consistently achieving more and helping you understand what's blocking you from performing better. Starting an online venture requires keeping track and focus because you will be wearing multiple hats this book keeps you on track by consistently assessing your day, week and month and the author did a great job by creating a planner that coordinates with the book and can be seen here: The High Performance Planner

3. Building A StoryBrand

4. Measure What Matters

Helps prioritize objectives and key results as a process to allow for optimizing them and not being distracted. Since we are always balancing multiple projects which within themselves have many objectives and goals, OKR's helped put what we are focused on within a time period is what we are working on.

5. Beyond The Marketing Funnel

Provides you with great funnel ideas on utilizing the different platforms in a way that even a person with no marketing or sales experience may flourish. For me it was a bit basic but if you are brand new to marketing or funnels this is a great entry level book.

6. Way of the Wolf

As a person who doesn't have the gift of gab, selling was difficult for me until I heard this audiobook and then picked up the book to keep as a reference. The Straight Line Selling is definitely a powerful system to help with selling ANYTHING!

7. Crucial Accountability

Helps you with dealing with employees and others who fail to do what they were supposed to, in a systematic approach so that you are not aggravating yourself and keeping those accountable for their action or lack of action.

8. Trust Me, I'm Lying: Confessions of a Media Manipulator

Teaches you how the media ecosystem can be used for good or bad and how to spot them, a real eye opener. I listened to the audiobook while on a road trip from Connecticut to Arizona and every time we stopped for a meal, or hotel I couldn't wait to listen again. It's such a great audiobook. The author really knows his stuff and enlightened me to a whole other view on the media. You'll definitely get a thorough understanding on how to utilize negative marketing to your advantage and why sometimes it can be a great piece to your marketing puzzle.

9. Web Design with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery Set

Anyone who has any digital assets should gain some knowledge on what they are using so that they can know how to implement or fix some html or online code. This is a set with individual books on each topic, which shows you the idea, how to code it and a download link on it fully working. It's definitely a great set to look at when in a bind.

10. One Million Followers: How I Built a Massive Social Following in 30 Days

Helps you tackle the social media aspect of online success through gaining a following on the different social platforms within 30 days. Definitely a must for any entrepreneur as social media must be part of your marketing strategy.
